Smart Bracelet vs Smartwatch
Posted by Rocky Jonson on
There are very few “sure things” when it comes to the wearables market. In fact, the only thing we know for certain is that we don’t really know anything yet. We certainly don’t know what’s actually going to catch on and become the next big thing in wearable technology.
As of right now, smartwatches have yet to become a major player in the consumer electronics market. Obviously we think that will change eventually. Fitness trackers are doing well, but they too have yet to really take off in terms of mass market popularity.
Now there’s a new player that could easily steal the spotlight, at least among women. The “smart bracelet”concept combines fashion, luxury, and email… and it’s being backed by some huge players. The idea isn’t exactly new but, now that tech giant Intel is pushing it, it could quickly shake up the entire market.
Meet the Mica, a 500 dollar, jewel-encrusted gadget that actually hides its smartwatch-like functionality to the outside world. It will come in “watersnake skin” colors and, if nothing else, will be the smartest bracelet at the party…
What do you think? Is there an inevitable smartwatch/smart bracelet battle looming? Will fashion and form trump function in the wrist-based gadget market? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
