Basis Peak: A Smart Fitness Watch to Get Excited About

Posted by Rocky Jonson on

There’s a very interesting new wearable device on the market, and it has a lot of people excited… including us. The Basis Peak, from Intel, is not a true smartwatch but it certainly has a lot of smart features built-in, like 24 hour fitness tracking and “habit based” coaching technology. And it’s set to get even smarter…

Health and fitness brand Basis is not new to the market but the Peak is said to be its first true industry game-changer. The waterproof device automatically tracks most of the important things you do, like sleeping, walking, running, and biking. Special lights on the back of the casing can track your heart rate and, somehow, even tell how much you’re sweating (weird, we know).

The Peak automatically connects with your smartphone and syncs with a variety of different fitness, health, and weight loss apps. It’ll let you know when you get a call, text, email, etc. Future software roll-outs are expected to make it even more smartwatch-y, with more communication-related functionality.

The basis is big and relatively chunky, but it looks good in our opinion. Some experts say the Basis Peak is the best fitness tracker currently on the market so far. We’ll have to wait and see if those predictions are true. Stay tuned for reviews, videos, and more soon!
